Diffbot pricing: API cost per page, plans and Knowledge Graph credits
The short answer
Diffbot sells monthly credits. Free is 10,000 credits a month at 5 requests a minute, Startup is $299 for 250,000 credits at 5 requests a second, Plus is $899 for 1,000,000 credits at 25 requests a second with 3 user seats, and Enterprise is quoted. A Professional plan at $3,999 for 5,000,000 credits has its own signup page but does not appear on the pricing grid. Extracting a page costs 1 credit, 2 through a datacenter proxy, and exporting a Knowledge Graph entity costs 25. That works out at $1.20 per 1,000 pages on Startup, $0.90 on Plus and $0.80 on Professional. The Crawl API is only available from Plus upward, so crawling a whole site starts at $899 a month. Every figure here was read from diffbot.com on 18 September 2026.

Diffbot publishes a short plan grid and a credit table. Neither one converts credits into a cost per page, neither says what a Knowledge Graph lookup costs in dollars, and the most expensive rule on the page is a feature line rather than a price.
Start with the division. Startup is $299 for 250,000 credits, which is $1.20 per 1,000 extracted pages. Plus is $899 for 1,000,000 credits, or $0.90 per 1,000. Professional, which you will only find on its own signup page, is $3,999 for 5,000,000 credits, or $0.80. Send a request through a datacenter proxy and each page costs 2 credits, so those rates double to $2.39, $1.80 and $1.60.
Then the rule that matters more than any rate. The Startup card lists all four APIs: Extract, Natural Language, Knowledge Graph and Web Search. Crawl is not one of them. The Diffbot crawl product page says it directly: access to the Crawl API is limited to Plus plans and up. So a team that needs to crawl 30,000 pages a month from a handful of domains has a credit need that fits inside Startup and a plan floor of $899.
In fairness to Diffbot, two rules run in the buyer's favor. Spidering a site for links costs 0 credits, so on Plus you pay only for pages actually extracted. And every plan is month to month and cancellable, with a free tier that needs no card.
We sell a crawl and extraction API, so read our column in the table with that in mind. Diffbot is the right purchase for a real class of buyer: nothing we offer replaces its Knowledge Graph of more than 10 billion entities or its automatic extraction across page layouts it has never seen.
If you are weighing Diffbot against lighter managed APIs for the same job, our Diffbot alternatives comparison covers who each one suits. Teams feeding a retrieval pipeline should read how clean page content gets into a RAG index, and our web scraping API pricing breakdown puts every meter in the category on one page.

Why it works
Three things the Diffbot pricing page does not work out for you
Crawling a site starts at $899, not $299
The Startup plan includes Extract, Natural Language, Knowledge Graph and Web Search, and nothing that follows links. The Crawl API begins on Plus, with 25 active crawls, and Enterprise raises that to more than 100. Spidering itself is free, 0 credits, which is generous once you are on Plus. But if your job is to walk a few domains every night, the entry price is the Plus plan, whatever your volume, and $600 of that is paying for the gate rather than for credits you will use.
On Startup, overage is cheaper than the plan
The 250,000 credits inside Startup cost $0.001196 each. Overage on the same plan is listed at $0.001, which is 16 percent less. So Startup plus overage stays cheaper than Plus until you reach 850,000 credits a month: $299 plus 600,000 overage credits at $0.001 is exactly $899. Upgrade for the Crawl API or for 25 requests a second. Upgrading for price alone only pays once you are consistently past 850,000 credits.
One Knowledge Graph entity costs as much as 25 pages
An entity export is 25 credits, a facet query export is 100, and entity enhancement is 25, or 100 with a refresh. Startup therefore buys 10,000 entity exports a month, and Plus buys 40,000. In dollars that is $29.90 per 1,000 entities on Startup, $22.48 on Plus and $20.00 on Professional. A workload that mixes page extraction with enrichment burns credits at two very different speeds, so forecast the two separately before you pick a tier.

Why ClawEngine
One API that crawls, renders and extracts
Not a raw HTML dump, not a headless browser fleet to run, and not a brittle parser to maintain. One call crawls a public page, renders its JavaScript and returns clean markdown or typed JSON, built for RAG pipelines and AI agents.
LLM-ready output
Clean markdown or typed JSON with the boilerplate stripped, so the data drops straight into a vector store, a prompt or an agent without a cleanup step.
JavaScript rendered
Each page loads in a real browser environment before extraction, so single-page apps and client-rendered content come back complete, not as an empty shell.
Compliance-first
ClawEngine works on public, permitted data only. It respects robots.txt and site Terms of Service and honors crawl-delay, so responsible scraping is the default.
Code examples
Crawling a known site with a schema, billed per page
If what you need from Diffbot is the content of specific sites rather than entity records, the crawl is the part the plan gate prices. Here it is one request on any plan, with fields returned typed against the schema you send.

# Billed as one page of plan allowance per page returned.
# Link discovery, rendering and extraction are all in the same meter.

Diffbot pricing: the questions buyers ask
How much does Diffbot cost?
Diffbot has a Free plan with 10,000 credits a month. Paid plans are Startup at $299 a month for 250,000 credits, Plus at $899 for 1,000,000 credits, and Professional at $3,999 for 5,000,000 credits, which has a signup page but is not on the pricing grid. Enterprise is quoted with a custom credit allotment, more than 100 active crawls and dedicated support.
How much does the Diffbot API cost per call?
Most calls cost 1 credit: extracting a page, a Natural Language call on up to 10,000 characters, or a web search. Extracting through a datacenter proxy costs 2. In dollars, one credit is $0.0012 on Startup, $0.0009 on Plus and $0.0008 on Professional, so a page costs $1.20, $0.90 or $0.80 per 1,000 calls depending on your tier.
How much does the Diffbot Knowledge Graph cost?
The Knowledge Graph is included on every plan and billed in credits. Exporting one entity costs 25 credits, a facet query export costs 100, and enhancing an entity costs 25, or 100 with a refresh. That makes 1,000 entity exports cost $29.90 on Startup, $22.48 on Plus and $20.00 on Professional. Startup covers 10,000 entities a month and Plus 40,000.
Does Diffbot charge for crawling?
Not for the crawling itself. Spidering a site for links costs 0 credits, and you are billed 1 credit for each page Diffbot successfully extracts. The cost sits in the plan gate instead: the Crawl API is only available on Plus at $899 a month and above, with 25 active crawls on Plus and more than 100 on Enterprise.
Is Diffbot free?
There is a Free plan with 10,000 credits a month, all four APIs and no credit card required, limited to 5 requests a minute. It does not include the Crawl API. When you hit the quota or the rate limit you receive a 429 Quota Exceeded response until the next billing period. Treat it as an evaluation tier rather than a production one.
What happens when you run out of Diffbot credits?
On a paid plan you keep running and the extra usage is billed per credit: $0.001 on Startup, $0.0009 on Plus and $0.0008 on Professional, with no additional overage fee. On the Free plan requests stop with a 429 Quota Exceeded response until the quota resets at the start of the next billing period.
Does Diffbot have a Professional plan?
Yes, although the main pricing grid does not show it. The Professional plan has its own signup page at $3,999 a month for 5,000,000 credits, with overage at $0.0008 a credit and the same cancel-anytime terms. That is $0.80 per 1,000 extracted pages, the lowest published Diffbot rate, and it sits between Plus and a quoted Enterprise agreement.
Can you cancel Diffbot anytime?
Yes. Diffbot is a flexible monthly subscription with no long-term contract, and if you cancel you are not billed for the following month. The Free plan needs no card at all. Enterprise terms are negotiated separately, so check the agreement rather than the pricing page if you are on a quoted plan.
Does Diffbot offer academic pricing?
Yes. Diffbot for Students gives students and academic researchers Startup-tier access free of charge. For a thesis or a research project that needs rule-less extraction or entity data, that is a far better deal than any paid plan, ours included, so apply for it before buying anything.
Is Diffbot worth it for a RAG pipeline?
Usually not, unless the pipeline uses entity data. RAG ingestion needs clean text from known URLs, and Diffbot charges $299 for Startup and $899 once you need to crawl, for a product whose real differentiators are the Knowledge Graph and automatic classification. If you only need the page content, a crawl and extraction API does the same ingestion at a fraction of that floor.
