Web unlocker pricing, web unblocker pricing and web unlocker API cost per 1,000 pages

The short answer

Bright Data Web Unlocker costs $1.50 per 1,000 successful requests on pay-as-you-go, or $499 a month for 383,000 requests on Scale with extra requests at $1.30 per 1,000, and 5,000 free requests a month. Premium domains add $1 per 1,000, and sending your own headers or cookies moves you to billing on every request, failed ones included. Oxylabs Web Unblocker is sold by the gigabyte: $75 for 8 GB ($9.40 per GB), $325 for 38 GB and $660 for 88 GB, with JavaScript rendering included. On credit-based APIs a protected, rendered page costs $2.28 to $8.89 per 1,000 on ZenRows and $7.13 to $36.75 on ScraperAPI ultra premium. ClawEngine does not unlock protected sites; it bills public pages at $0.27 to $0.98 per 1,000, which is why the cheapest setup sends only the blocked domains to an unlocker.

A web unlocker is the most expensive way to fetch a page, and most teams buying one route far more traffic through it than they need to. The product does a real job: it rotates residential IPs, fingerprints a browser, solves the CAPTCHA and retries until the protected page comes back. That work costs money, and the price lists reflect it. Bright Data charges $1.50 per 1,000 successful requests before any plan discount. Oxylabs charges by the gigabyte, so a heavy page costs several times a light one. Credit-based APIs such as ZenRows and ScraperAPI multiply the credit cost of a request by 25 to 75 when you switch on the protected-site mode.

The number on the pricing page is rarely the number on the invoice, for three reasons. Some unlockers stop billing only for success the moment you customize the request. Per-gigabyte billing turns page weight into a price variable nobody quotes you in advance. And a URL list almost never needs the unlocker on every domain: a price-monitoring job might have three retailers behind a bot wall and forty that serve a plain page to anyone. Pay unlocker rates on all forty-three and you are paying protected-page prices for public pages.

This page lays out what each unlocker charges, read from each vendor's own pricing page and documentation, converts every price into a cost per 1,000 pages, and shows the routing arithmetic. We sell the other half of the job. ClawEngine does not bypass bot protection, CAPTCHAs or logins, and we say so in every comparison below. What it does is crawl and extract public, permitted pages as markdown or typed JSON for $0.27 to $0.98 per 1,000, which is the right price for the domains that never needed unlocking in the first place.

For the full Bright Data catalogue, including the Scraping Browser billed by the gigabyte, see Bright Data pricing per 1,000 pages. The Oxylabs plan ladders are broken down on Oxylabs pricing by product, and the credit multipliers on ScrapingBee pricing and ZenRows pricing follow the same logic. To price the whole category on one scale, our web scraping API pricing comparison covers the plain-page side. If you already pay Bright Data and want to know what else to test, Bright Data Web Unlocker alternatives ranks the options by workload.

Why it works

Three billing rules that decide what an unlocker really costs

Success-only billing has an exception

Bright Data bills only successful Web Unlocker requests by default. Enable custom headers, custom cookies or a manual expect element and the Custom Web Unlocker rules apply: every request is billed, successful or failed. On a hard target with a 60 percent success rate that raises the real cost per delivered page by two thirds.

Per-gigabyte billing prices page weight

Oxylabs Web Unblocker is metered by data, not requests. Its trial describes 1 GB as up to 10,000 results, about 100 KB each. At $9.40 per GB that is $0.94 per 1,000 light pages, and $4.70 per 1,000 if your pages average 500 KB. Measure your own page weight on the trial before comparing it with a per-request price.

The unlocker belongs on some domains, not all

Route only the domains that actually block you through the unlocker and send the rest to a plain crawl API. At 250,000 pages a month with a fifth of them protected, Bright Data pay-as-you-go on everything is $375. Split, it is $75 for the 50,000 protected pages plus $99 for the 200,000 public ones on our Startup plan, $174 in total.

What it handles

Any URL in, clean structured data out

Point ClawEngine at a public page and it crawls, renders the JavaScript and extracts clean markdown or typed JSON in one call. Define a schema for structured fields, and respect robots.txt and Terms of Service by default.

Why ClawEngine

One API that crawls, renders and extracts

Not a raw HTML dump, not a headless browser fleet to run, and not a brittle parser to maintain. One call crawls a public page, renders its JavaScript and returns clean markdown or typed JSON, built for RAG pipelines and AI agents.

LLM-ready output

Clean markdown or typed JSON with the boilerplate stripped, so the data drops straight into a vector store, a prompt or an agent without a cleanup step.

JavaScript rendered

Each page loads in a real browser environment before extraction, so single-page apps and client-rendered content come back complete, not as an empty shell.

Compliance-first

ClawEngine works on public, permitted data only. It respects robots.txt and site Terms of Service and honors crawl-delay, so responsible scraping is the default.

Keep a short list of domains that return challenge pages. Everything else goes to a per-page extraction call, which costs $0.27 to $0.98 per 1,000 instead of $1.50 or more, and comes back as markdown or typed fields.

People also ask

Web unlocker pricing, the questions buyers ask

How much does Web Unlocker cost?

Bright Data Web Unlocker costs $1.50 per 1,000 successful requests on pay-as-you-go. The Scale plan is $499 a month for 383,000 requests, with additional requests at $1.30 per 1,000, and Enterprise is priced by quote. The first 5,000 requests each month are free, and Bright Data matches a first deposit up to $500 at the time of writing.

How much is Bright Data Web Unlocker per request?

On pay-as-you-go it is $0.0015 per successful request, and $0.0013 per request beyond the 383,000 included in the $499 Scale plan. Requests to domains on the premium list add $1 per 1,000, taking the pay-as-you-go rate to $2.50 per 1,000 on those sites. Rendering, CAPTCHA solving and markdown output are included in the base rate.

Does Bright Data charge for failed Web Unlocker requests?

Not by default. Standard Web Unlocker billing counts only successful requests. The exception is the Custom Web Unlocker mode: once you send your own headers or cookies, or set a manual expect element, Bright Data bills 100 percent of requests, successful and failed, because it no longer controls the request. Keep the defaults unless a target genuinely needs custom values.

How much does Oxylabs Web Unblocker cost?

Oxylabs sells Web Unblocker by data volume. Micro is $75 a month for 8 GB ($9.40 per GB), Starter $325 for 38 GB ($8.60) and Advanced $660 for 88 GB ($7.50), with JavaScript rendering included and a free 1 GB trial. At the time of writing a six-month 40 percent coupon cuts those to $45, $196 and $396.

Is Web Unblocker the same product as Web Unlocker?

They do the same job under two vendor names. Web Unlocker is Bright Data, billed per 1,000 successful requests. Web Unblocker is Oxylabs, billed per gigabyte of data delivered. Both manage proxies, fingerprints, retries and CAPTCHAs for you. The billing unit is the real difference, and it decides which one is cheaper for your pages.

Which web unlocker is cheapest?

It depends on page weight and volume. For light pages Oxylabs per-GB pricing can land near $1 per 1,000. Bright Data is a flat $1.50, or $1.30 at Scale. ZenRows Scale works out at $2.28 per 1,000 protected, rendered pages, and Zyte runs from $0.13 on easy HTTP sites to $16.08 on the hardest browser tier. Test your real targets before committing.

How much does a protected page cost on ZenRows?

ZenRows charges 25 credits for a request with JavaScript rendering and premium proxies, the setting protected sites need. That is $8.89 per 1,000 pages on Build ($16 for 45,000 credits), $5.70 on Launch, $3.44 on Growth and $2.28 on Scale ($456 for 5,000,000 credits), on monthly billing. Only successful requests use credits.

How much does ScraperAPI ultra premium cost?

Ultra premium is 30 credits a request, or 75 with rendering. On the Business plan ($299 for 3,000,000 credits) that is $2.99 per 1,000 pages without rendering and $7.48 with it. On Hobby ($49 for 100,000 credits) a rendered ultra premium page costs $36.75 per 1,000. ScraperAPI bills 200 and 404 responses only.

What are Bright Data premium domains?

Premium domains are a list of especially hard targets that Bright Data says need extra resources to unlock. Requests to a domain on that list carry a $1 per 1,000 surcharge on top of the normal Web Unlocker rate. Only requests to those specific domains are billed higher, so the rest of the job keeps the standard price.

Do I need a web unlocker for every website?

No. Most public sites serve their pages to any well-behaved client, and paying unlocker rates for them is wasted spend. Unlockers earn their price on the minority of sites behind active bot protection. Test each domain, send the protected ones through the unlocker and the rest through a plain crawl API billed per page.

Good questions

Questions about Web unlocker pricing

No, and we would rather say it here than in a support ticket. ClawEngine renders JavaScript and extracts clean markdown or typed JSON, but it does not rotate residential proxies, solve CAPTCHAs or defeat bot protection, and it stays on public, permitted pages. For a site that blocks automated traffic, buy an unlocker. For the public pages on the same URL list, we are the cheaper line item.
Run a sample of each domain through a plain fetch first. A domain that returns the real page with its content is public and does not need unlocking. A domain that returns a challenge page, a 403 or an empty shell after rendering is the one to route through the unlocker. Re-check monthly, because sites add and remove protection without notice.
